Hale homes deserve a driveway that matches the house. We design and install premium driveways in Hale and Hale Barns, laying block paving, resin bound and tarmac driveways for the large detached properties off Ashley Road, the period houses near Hale station and the new builds along the WA15 lanes.
Because many Hale drives have gates, lighting and planting to work around, we survey every site in person and plan the levels before quoting. Materials come from approved suppliers including Brett, Tobermore and The Resin Mill, and we hold £10 million public liability insurance.

Customer opinions matter to us. Most of our work comes from recommendations, and here is what customers say.

Patios in Hale
Block paving is cost-effective, low-maintenance and endlessly customisable. You choose the colour, texture and laying pattern, and if a block is ever damaged it can be lifted and replaced on its own without disturbing the rest of the drive.
On the bigger Hale Barns plots we often use premium tumbled or natural-look blocks with a double border, which gives a driveway the presence of a courtyard.
Resin bound surfaces mix small natural stones with a clear resin, trowelled to a smooth, even finish. The result is permeable, so water drains through, and it comes in a wide range of colours. In the right conditions it can even be laid over a sound existing driveway.
Resin bound is a favourite in Hale for its smooth, contemporary finish. Laid over a well-built base, it drains through, stays weed-free and sits beautifully against rendered or stone-faced houses.

Tarmac and asphalt driveways are quick to install and very durable. We lay them on a compacted stone base and finish the edges with paving or kerbs, which restrains the surface and gives the drive a sharper look.
For long approach drives and private lanes, tarmac with a contrasting block edge is durable and keeps costs sensible across a large area.

Dips where the car parks mean the base underneath has failed.
Water should run away from the house, not towards it.
Lost jointing sand lets blocks move and weeds take hold.
Once the surface breaks up, patching rarely lasts.

Hale drives are often long, gated and lined with mature trees. That means planning for electric gate tracks, underground cables and tree roots before we dig. Near Hale station there are conservation-area streets where a natural-looking finish is the sensible choice. We also allow for heavy vehicles, because many Hale properties have building work going on nearby.
We also lay driveways in these nearby areas, with the same team and the same guarantees.

Hale driveways range from compact frontages to long gated approaches, so the cost depends on the area, the surface and extras such as drainage channels, lighting ducts or gate tracks. We visit, measure and give a fixed written quote at no cost. Call 0161 841 7075 to book.
Resin bound and premium block paving are the most popular choices for Hale homes because they look high-end and last. Tarmac with a block border suits very long drives. We bring samples so you can compare them against your house.
Usually not, as long as the surface is permeable or rainwater runs off onto a lawn or border within your property. In England, a new impermeable front driveway over 5 square metres that drains onto the road needs planning permission. Resin bound and permeable block paving avoid this. Listed buildings and some conservation streets have extra rules, and we flag these at your survey.
Yes. A dropped kerb (vehicle crossing) in Hale is approved by Trafford Council, and you need their consent before driving over the pavement. We explain what the council asks for at your survey, and we can lay the new driveway so it lines up with the approved crossing.
Resin bound driveways are permeable: the stones are mixed with resin and trowelled smooth, leaving tiny gaps for water to pass through, provided the base underneath is permeable too. Resin bonded (scatter coat) surfaces are not permeable. We only lay resin bound driveways for homes, on a base designed to drain.
No. Every driveway is laid by our own qualified and fully insured team. We never use sub-contractors, so the people who survey your drive are the people who build it, and the standard is the same on every job.
Sometimes. Resin bound and tarmac can go over existing tarmac or concrete that is sound, level and drains well, after repairs and priming. Block paving, and any drive that is sinking, cracked through or holding water, needs digging out and a new base. We check which applies at your free survey.
We call you back to arrange a free survey at a time that suits you. We measure up, check levels and drainage, show you samples and then send a fixed written quote with no obligation. If you go ahead, we agree a start date and our own team carries out the work from excavation to the final clean.
