We lay tarmac driveways in Wilmslow for the larger homes in Pownall Park and Fulshaw, the family houses off Hawthorn Lane and the properties out towards Morley and Styal. Our team also covers Handforth and Alderley Edge, so most of SK9 is on our doorstep. As established tarmac driveway installers, we put a deep, well-compacted base under every drive, which matters on the sandy ground found across much of Wilmslow.
Wilmslow plots often include gates, lighting and turning circles, so our free site survey is never rushed. We measure, check levels and drainage, and talk through edging and layout before giving you a fixed written quote with no obligation. The team that lays your drive is our own and fully insured, and we never sub-contract any part of the job, however large.

Customer opinions matter to us. Most of our work comes from recommendations, and here is what customers say.

Tarmac is quick to lay, tough and good value over a large area. It copes with heavy vehicles, gives a smooth, seamless finish and is easy to maintain.
On sandy Wilmslow soils, a firmly restrained edge is what stops tarmac spreading over time. That is why many customers here choose a block paving border, granite setts or a concrete kerb. Black tarmac suits modern homes, while red tarmac warms up older brickwork. We also resurface faded drives, repair cracks and potholes, and widen frontages for visitors, vans or a third car.
Want a permeable finish instead? Ask about resin driveways.
Water gets in, freezes and breaks the surface up further.
Once the surface starts to fret, patches rarely last.
Low spots mean the surface or base has sunk.
Old tarmac loses its colour and starts to look worn.

Wilmslow has a wide mix of property, from Victorian villas near the town centre to modern detached homes on generous plots. Long drives, private lanes and shared accesses are common, and tarmac is often the most practical surface for them. The sandy ground drains freely but can shift beneath a thin base, so we dig out deeper than many installers do. Around Pownall Park and Morley we often plan for gate tracks and lighting ducts. Cheshire East Council handles new vehicle crossings, and we explain what they need.
We also lay tarmac driveways in these nearby areas, with the same team and the same guarantees.

Often, yes. If the existing tarmac is sound and the levels allow, we repair cracks and soft spots, apply a tack coat and lay a new surface course over the top. If it is breaking up, sinking or would end up too high against the house or the kerb, we dig out and start from a proper base.
Tarmac (asphalt) is one of the most recycled construction materials: old surfaces can be planed off and reused in new mixes. It is not permeable, so on a front driveway we make sure rainwater runs to a lawn, border or soakaway rather than onto the road.
A well-laid tarmac driveway typically lasts 12 to 15 years before it needs resurfacing or major repair. Small repairs to cracks may be needed over time, but other than that it needs very little maintenance.
Very easy. A sweep and an occasional jet wash keep it looking good. Keep weeds off the edges and get any cracks sealed early so water cannot get underneath.
In Wilmslow the cost depends on drive length and width, the depth of base the sandy ground needs, the edging, and any extras such as drainage channels or ducts for gates and lights. Removing old gravel or concrete adds to the work. We price every job from a site visit and fix it in writing. Call 01625 404543 to book a free survey.
No. Our tarmac driveways are always laid by our own qualified and fully insured team. We never use sub-contractors, so the people who survey your drive are the people who build it.
Tarmac is a good fit for many Wilmslow homes, especially long drives and private lanes used by delivery vans. The sandy ground drains well, but we still fall the surface to a soakaway or border so it meets the permeable front garden rules. Strong edging is essential here. For smaller frontages or a lighter finish, resin bound or premium block paving can be the better choice.
In England, a new front driveway over 5 square metres that is not permeable needs planning permission if rainwater runs onto the road. If it drains to a lawn, border or soakaway within your property, it usually does not. We plan the falls and drainage so your new drive stays within the rules.
