Belvoir Contractors installs tarmac driveways in Sale for homes all over M33, including the Edwardian semis near Walton Park, the family houses off Marsland Road and the larger plots towards Brooklands. As experienced tarmac driveway installers we also work just up the A56 in Stretford, so the north end of town is never out of reach. Tarmac gives a tidy, seamless parking area that stands up to heavy daily use and needs very little looking after.
We start every Sale job with a free site survey, measuring the frontage and checking how water drains at the moment. You then receive a fixed written quotation, with no obligation and no pressure to decide on the day. Our own crew carries out the excavation and surfacing from start to finish, we never hand work to sub-contractors, and we are fully insured throughout.

Customer opinions matter to us. Most of our work comes from recommendations, and here is what customers say.

Tarmac is quick to lay, tough and good value over a large area. It copes with heavy vehicles, gives a smooth, seamless finish and is easy to maintain.
Much of Sale sits on flat land close to the Mersey, so a tarmac surface with properly judged falls is a practical way to stop puddles forming at the front door. Homeowners here often pair black tarmac with a silver-grey block border or a row of granite setts along the pavement. We also resurface old drives, mend cracked and pot-holed sections, and widen frontages for a second car.
Want a permeable finish instead? Ask about resin driveways.
Water gets in, freezes and breaks the surface up further.
Once the surface starts to fret, patches rarely last.
Low spots mean the surface or base has sunk.
Old tarmac loses its colour and starts to look worn.

Sale housing changes quickly from one road to the next. Terraces close to the tram line have very little room, while the semis in Sale Moor and the detached homes towards Brooklands usually have depth for two or three cars. Low-lying streets near Sale Water Park and the Bridgewater Canal can hold water after heavy rain, so we work out where every drop will go before anything is laid. Old concrete that has split along its joints is a common starting point. Trafford Council looks after dropped kerb applications in Sale.
We also lay tarmac driveways in these nearby areas, with the same team and the same guarantees.

Often, yes. If the existing tarmac is sound and the levels allow, we repair cracks and soft spots, apply a tack coat and lay a new surface course over the top. If it is breaking up, sinking or would end up too high against the house or the kerb, we dig out and start from a proper base.
Tarmac (asphalt) is one of the most recycled construction materials: old surfaces can be planed off and reused in new mixes. It is not permeable, so on a front driveway we make sure rainwater runs to a lawn, border or soakaway rather than onto the road.
A well-laid tarmac driveway typically lasts 12 to 15 years before it needs resurfacing or major repair. Small repairs to cracks may be needed over time, but other than that it needs very little maintenance.
Very easy. A sweep and an occasional jet wash keep it looking good. Keep weeds off the edges and get any cracks sealed early so water cannot get underneath.
Every Sale driveway is priced individually. The main factors are the area to be covered, how much old concrete or lawn needs digging out, the depth of stone base, the edging you choose and any drainage or kerb work. A wide Brooklands frontage needs more material than a Sale Moor semi. Ring 0161 841 7075 and we will arrange a free survey and a fixed written price.
No. Our tarmac driveways are always laid by our own qualified and fully insured team. We never use sub-contractors, so the people who survey your drive are the people who build it.
Tarmac works very well in Sale, especially on wider frontages and drives that take a van. The ground is mostly flat, so drainage is the key detail: the surface must fall to a gully, a soakaway or a planted strip to satisfy the front garden rules. If you would like lots of pattern or a lighter colour, block paving or resin may suit the house better.
In England, a new front driveway over 5 square metres that is not permeable needs planning permission if rainwater runs onto the road. If it drains to a lawn, border or soakaway within your property, it usually does not. We plan the falls and drainage so your new drive stays within the rules.
